Over ten years, we will double the benefit to local economies from our organisation.
In partnership with the University of Derby and with funding from Innovate UK, we developed a bespoke methodology for measuring our economic impact. These skills are now embedded within our organisation, allowing us to measure progress against this goal. As the assessment is resource-intensive, we calculate and report on our economic impact on a biennial basis.
Economic impact is measured using Gross Value Added: the combined value of direct and indirect goods and services. We also calculate the number of jobs directly and indirectly supported by the Devonshire Group’s operations.
In 2023/24, the Devonshire Group contributed £231 million in GVA, up 13% from our 2019/20 baseline. Importantly, £163 million of this value was generated within 30 miles of our estates, strengthening local economies and supporting communities.
In the meantime, our efforts remain focused on four key priorities to support the delivery of our long-term ambition:
Sustainably growing our businesses to create high-quality employment opportunities
Increasing the proportion of goods and services procured locally
Providing the space and opportunity tenants need to grow and succeed
Encouraging visitors to stay longer by expanding our accommodation offer and collaborating with local providers
