What's open
While the house and garden are closed until Saturday 21 March for essential conservation and restoration, our Stables courtyard remains open for shopping and dining.
Chatsworth House
Chatsworth House is home to the Devonshire family and has been passed down through 17 generations, starting with Bess of Hardwick, in Queen Elizabeth I's reign.
Explore more than 25 rooms in the historic house including the Painted Hall, State Rooms, and Sculpture Gallery, and discover its extensive art and sculpture collection. Learn how succeeding generations have each made their mark on one of the country's finest stately homes.
Visit from November until the beginning of January and the house and garden are decorated for Christmas with a different theme each year, there is also a Christmas market and a packed programme of seasonal events, including tours, creative workshops, and dining and live music evenings.
Guided Tours
See Chatsworth from a new perspective by booking one of our guided tours, available from mid March to end of October. Choose between personal tours of the house and garden, our behind the scenes tour, or enquire about a bespoke experience.
Chatsworth Garden
Discover the 105-acre Chatsworth Garden, the product of nearly 500 years of careful cultivation and still ever-evolving. Pause and take in the views, or explore and discover some of the many features, including an arboretum, Victorian rock garden, historical waterways, sculptures, glasshouses, a maze and more.
Chatsworth Farmyard and Playground
If you're looking for things to do with kids, the farmyard has been a favourite day out for families since 1973. There are so many farmyard friends to meet, from Eugenie the rare breed Suffolk Punch mare, and Grace the pygmy goat to a collection of cute Guinea Pigs you can cuddle.
Our woodland adventure playground offers hours of fun with climbing towers, racing slides, a zip wire, and water and sand play.
