Step inside Christmas at Chatsworth: The Enchanted Garden and be transported by the quiet beauty and hidden magic of the natural world in midwinter.
Created in collaboration with acclaimed British artists and animators, this immersive, multi-sensory experience invites you into a realm where the mystical spirit of the outdoors reigns.
Explore 20 extraordinary spaces transformed with light, sound, and shadow play. Discover towering Christmas trees, a grand cluster of mistletoe, shimmering copper toadstools, and twirling oak leaf archways, each inspired by the wonders of nature.
Through animated projections, enchanted fairies are awakened, while woodland creatures crouch in secret corners, and tiny doorways hint at pathways to hidden lands.
The experience weaves together treasures from the Devonshire Collections with new commissions by Peak District-based artists Winning Works, Everdenes, Wirksworth Pottery and Waney Grain, alongside majestic willow sculptures by internationally renowned artist Emma Stothard.
Celebrated mixed-reality artists Studio McGuire have crafted bespoke animations, projections, and music, enriching the experience with layers of storytelling and atmosphere.
The Enchanted Garden is the culmination of a year spent honouring the beauty and resilience of the natural world at Chatsworth. As winter settles in, we invite you to pause, explore, and celebrate the magic of the season.
In the garden – entry included with your Christmas at Chatsworth ticket
In the garden, discover enchanting spaces where reality and magic intertwine along an immersive light trail.
Created by Luminism, the trail transforms some of Chatsworth's best-loved garden landmarks, including the Cascade, Willow Tree Fountain, Rock Garden, Ring Pond and Maze.
Your journey concludes with a spectacular animated light and sound projection on the house, inspired by this year’s theme and brought to life by Studio McGuire.
Please note: Last entry to the garden is one hour before closing. The projection on the house will finish approximately 20 minutes before the garden closing time. Please ensure you leave enough time to complete the trail. View opening times.

Market opening times are 10am - 5.30pm (Mon - Thurs) and 10am - 6pm (Fri - Sun).
Over this period, parking arrangements will be different to those you may be used to. As well as in the main car park, cars will be parked on a trackway across the parkland, and we will be operating a tractor and trailer shuttle service between shuttle stops and the house car park. The tractor and trailer service ends 15 minutes after the closure of the garden (view garden opening times).
The tractor and trailer shuttle service is wheelchair accessible. Visit our accessibility web pages for more information.

Opening and entry times
Our opening times vary over the Christmas and New Year period. You can view a full list of house, garden and farmyard opening times, including last entry times, here: View opening times.
If you have a Christmas at Chatsworth ticket, you are welcome to arrive at Chatsworth any time after 9 am on the day of your visit. Our market (8 Nov - 14 Dec), garden, farmyard and playground, and many of our shops and restaurants open at 10 am. You may visit the garden before your entry time for the house.
If you choose a house entry time of 4.30 pm or later, we recommend you visit the garden light trail before you enter the house so you have enough time to enjoy the full experience.
Unless you are entering the garden from the house, last entry to the garden is one hour before closing. Our light trail takes approximately 45 minutes to experience and is best viewed from dusk.
Please note that the projection may finish 20 minutes earlier than the garden closing time, so please allow plenty of time to complete the trail. The Orangery shop and Flora’s Temple Tearoom will close when the garden closes.
Weather
During high winds, access to some areas of the garden will be restricted. This is part of our health and safety protocols, designed to help ensure the safety and well-being of our visitors and colleagues.
*Select rooms on the upper floor of the house, including the State Bedrooms, will be closed for annual conservation during Christmas at Chatsworth.
